How This Fitness Studio Filled A New Class & Cut 20 Hours Of Work

How we helped a fitness studio owner go from scattered, hand-me-down social media to a dedicated editor who helped fill a brand-new class and freed up 20 hours a week.

"Having someone whose specific role is content is a big deal. We don't squeeze it in anymore."Jennifer Scherer · Fredericksburg Fitness Studio

Background

Jennifer Scherer owns Fredericksburg Fitness Studio, a gym that primarily serves seniors. For a long time, social media was handled by whoever was available, mostly personal trainers by trade, whose skills weren't at the level the studio needed. As a result, it kept changing hands, the messaging wasn't branded, and the professionalism wasn't consistent.

As a business owner, Jennifer found content always got pushed to the bottom of the list. On top of that, she was preparing to launch Apparatus Pilates, a small-group offering aimed at a very different demographic from her core senior clientele. She knew she needed outside expertise to reach that new audience.

The Process

We recruited, trained, and placed a dedicated editor, Sam, inside her business, someone whose only job was her content.

With Sam in place, content stopped being something she squeezed in. Now it's planned a month ahead, with clear goals for the quarter and the year. Sam took over editing across her channels and built out recurring formats like monthly trainer spotlights, client-of-the-month features, and recipes, pulling footage from the whole team. Weekly meetings kept Jennifer organized and accountable.

Very quickly, Sam became part of the team, someone the staff knew by name and who genuinely cared about the studio's mission.

The Results

The consistent, dedicated content helped Jennifer grow into a new demographic while getting hours of her week back.

1) Filled a brand-new class in a new demographic. Jennifer set out to launch Apparatus Pilates to reach an audience very different from her core senior clientele. She's now filled four hours a week of Pilates apparatus classes, a result she attributes directly to the social media work.

2) Saved 20 hours a week, the cost of a position. By handing content to a dedicated editor, Jennifer estimates she saved at least 20 hours a week of a part-time trainer's time. In her words, that's "eliminating a potential position from the studio."

3) Consistent, branded content and a real team member. Social media stopped changing hands and finally became consistent, professional, and on-brand, planned by quarter and year. Sam became part of the leadership team's world, and Jennifer calls adding him "one of the best decisions I've made for Fredericksburg Fitness."
